The first floor of the building offers a unique and vast 30,000 square feet of urban space for the community. The space includes water bodies and food trucks, creating a vibrant and inviting environment for people of all ages to gather and interact with the project.
The design of the Roski School of Arts Extension takes into consideration its raw, bold and contemporary exposed concrete architecture, glass sandwich floor at the top, and towering height of 80 feet, making the adjacent buildings appear small in comparison.
The zigzag staircase facing McClintock Ave has a viewing deck and is designed as a floating structure, making it visually interesting and inviting to the community. The top academic floor sits on a hidden steel truss spanning 102ft, creating a massive frame for the staircase facing Jefferson. This frame gives a glimpse of the interior while still maintaining an element of mystery.
